Kids do spend a portion of their time surfing the net, chatting with friends on IMs or Facebook but it's quite disappointing to see that only a minority of them participate in Twitter's micorblogging community. Maybe Twitter doesn't really attracts them at all or maybe they think it's a place for professional bloggers or businessmen to spread the word of mouth of his or her products or campaigns.

It seems that a huge majority of kids living in first world countries know how to create a presentaion using Microsoft Powerpoint, design an attractive wallpaper using Photoshop, build apps by making use of C++ and Java programming, etc. From here, I can conclude that maybe at least 25 per cent of them are more tech-savvy than their parents who were once a bookworm when they were a student.

Now with the advanced and high technology used in the Web, operating systems, mobile phones, iPods, etc, I believe that parents should allow their child/children to become tech-savvy especially interacting and collaborating with others on the Web since we are approaching the new Web 3.0 which has been described as "read, write and execute". By learning new skills such blogging, it not only helps us to catch up with the fast-paced technological world, but also to improve our confidence and of course writing skills.
For those who don't know who I am, well I'm a 14-Year-Old student (reaching 15 soon) and a professional tech blogger at KidTechGuru. I feel that it's important for kids (if you have one or you're one) to start having a career goal and work on it when one is still young. Why is this so is because we are living in such a competitive economy where MANY students study like mad, striving to get a well-paid job in 5-10 years time. If you're a student like me who doesn't really enjoy studying or believe that no mater how hard you study, you just can't beat those geniuses, then I would suggest to study and work at the same time.

In my case, I blog and share my tech knowledge with people around the world. One main reason why I blog is that I've the interest in it and another one is that when my peers graduate from universities, I've already become a successful professional blogger while they would have to find jobs and work starting from the basic level. Also, when kids excel in something that it's difficult to achieve it his or her age (especially child prodigies), more people will focus on them and definetely one will get some advantages.
Do you think it's good for kids to become tech-savvy and should kids study and work at the same time? Write your thoughts and opinions in the comments below.

5 Responses to "Kids Are Become More Tech-Savvy & Should They Study & Work At The Same Time?"Absolutely , I agree with you , Kids like us will be far ahead than others after we pass out from university .In a particular field [related to tech]. But I would suggest that every kid should do/learn everything from css/html/javascript/c++/java/photoshop/blogging and so on. So that we don't have to learn them after wards and so that we discover our true passion and till we reach that age[passed out from university] we can concentrate our efforts on one particular field and ..
I readily agree with this.
I can't agree more!
Its obvious that kids have to keep up with the tech advances. For well paid jobs , every job requires even more than basic knowledge in computers and that is not very hard to achieve in these days..
I believe both must go hand in hand.. while studies and schooling are a crutial and a necessary tradition , it is essential we wriggle past those exams and at the same time , blog about the last time you hacked a software...
